The Washington 15th Street Coalition

Despite what you may have heard, the NCDOT design currently under review is not a done deal. There is still time to influence meaningful change—and your voice matters.

Our Mission

A coalition for safe, equitable, and sustainable street design.

Our mission is to ensure that infrastructure improvements reflect the vision, values and voice of our city — preserving neighborhood integrity, protecting private property, enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety, and supporting long-term economic vitality.

Through our grassroots alliance of residents, business owners, and community leaders, we aim to create positive changes that benefit all members of the community. We believe in transparency, civic engagement and community-first planning for a vibrant and inclusive city. Join us in our mission to shape a better future for Washington.

Our Objective

Why We’re Here

To unify business owners and residents impacted by the NCDOT 15th Street project, develop a collective action plan, and strategize on influencing change before final project approval.

Advocate

We believe progress should be shaped by the people it impacts. We’re working to ensure that local voices guide the future of 15th Street through thoughtful, community-led design.

Engage

Every resident and business owner deserves a seat at the table. We’re committed to civic engagement and open communication so the community is informed, involved, and empowered throughout the process.

Collaborate

Real change happens when we work together. We are building strong partnerships with local leaders, state agencies, and advocacy organizations to push for solutions that reflect Washington’s values.

Influence

It’s not too late to make meaningful change. Our goal is to bring the NCDOT design closer to the previously approved Stantec plan—protecting property, supporting small businesses, and preserving our community’s character.
